The History
The Corbières
vineyards are situated in Fabrezan in the Aude region, reputed to
be the warmest region in France and where the rainfall is low. The influence of the
Mediterranean is dominant, with a slight Oceanic influence from the West. Winds
coming from both directions, bringing a welcome amount of humidity much
appreciated by the vines growing in a soil made up mainly of schist. 60 Hectares of
vineyards, situated around the village of Fabrezan which is located within the
county of Aude in the Languedoc region. The Chateau was built at the end of the
18th Century and the cellars were added in 1912. The innovative winemaking
cellars were designed by the architectural company of Gustave Eiffel. Intense and
spicy full
-
bodied wines that speak to us of bold Cathar strongholds, high on the
wind
-
carved Corbières
massif, and of vinyeyards on wild hillsides, bathed in the
unblinking Meditarranean sun.
The wines are made from Carignan, Syrah and Grenache and Cinsault, endowing
the wines with an excellent aromatic balance.
The grape
32% Syrah, 32% Carignan, 27% Grenache, 5% Cinsault, 4% Mourvèdre
Tasting note
Deep red color, with warm and complex aromas of dark fruits. Persistent finish.

The History


Chateau La Boutignane is situated in one of the warmest and driest regions of France with an oceanic influence from the Mediterranean. Winds from the south and west bring a welcome humidity to the vines


The Grape


The grapes are hand-picked to ensure the highest quality and yields that are not too high. This particular wine is made from a blend of 50% Carignan, 20% Syrah, 20% Grenache and 10% Cinsault.
