Quick Overview

In this exceptional vintage, 2010 CROIX DU RIVAL benefited from a perfectly ripe harvest : displaying powerful aromas of red fruits, with very soft and silky tannins, and a finely balanced structure, this wine might be enjoyed in its young age, but will undoubtedly improve after a few years of cellaring.

The History

An outstanding terroir in Lussac

... In 2007, we acquired twenty more hectares of vines in the neighbouring commune of Lussac.

These plots of old vines (some were over 50 years old) showed an unquestionable potential to produce fine wine. They are located on the site of a former Gallo-Roman villa belonging to a certain Lucciacus, who gave his name to present-day town of Lussac. This confirms Lussac's extremely long winegrowing tradition.

Grapes from Château Soleil were previously transported to the Puisseguin-Lussac cooperative cellar. However, starting with the 2008 vintage, they will be made into wine in Château Soleil's newly renovated cellars in Puisseguin...

The Grape

Merlot (80%), Cabernet Franc (10%), and Cabernet Sauvignon (10%)
