Quick Overview

89% Cabernet Sauvignon, 6% Merlot and 5% Cabernet Franc. The bouquet is one of leather with a hint of tobacco and cinnamon, the latter of which comes from the Hungarian Oak. Winemaker Kosta Arger believes texture is very important to a wine’s character, and this wine has a solid structure with the lush mouthfeel we enjoy. The flavors are consistent with low-yield, hillside fruit—very intense, with black cherry and black pepper overtones.

The History

At Arger-Martucci Vineyards, we take great pride in our Estate-Bottled wines. Each of the Cabernet varietals is grown on the Arger Family Odyssey Vineyard property. Sitting atop Atlas Peak, the gentle hillside vineyard is situated 1,350 feet above the Napa Valley floor and enjoys a perfect climate for growing grapes. Between 1,000 and 2,000 feet is considered “the sweet spot” for growing hillside grapes, and we believe our vineyards take full advantage of the additional morning sun exposure and cool nights afforded by this location

The Vineyard

We call this Odyssey Vineyard because it has led us on a true “odyssey” from intense fascination to “garagista” and finally to commercial winery with the goal of producing limited amounts of premium wine. This vineyard produces our Odyssey proprietary blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot, and Petite Verdot. In addition, our Syrah is produced from a small, 3-acre rocky parcel located adjacent to this Cabernet vineyard and from a 3-acre parcel owned by the Martucci's, which is also located on Atlas Peak. We find that blending the fruit from these two vineyards gives our Syrah its richness and complexity for which it is known
